New Romantics is a string nonet concert celebrating the love each of us has for treasured places or experiences, a love that burns as brightly in our memories as the connections we feel to the people who have shaped us.
We are honoured to be premiering Edmonton composer Lai Cheukman Joseph's "Unsung Legacy," a concerto for Chinese flute and string orchestra, with support from Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Dizi player Jiajia Li will fly you from Hong Kong to Edmonton and back in a tour de force of virtuosity and soulful exploration of what "home" really means.
