The Astralis Chamber Music Society is excited to invite you to an extraordinary afternoon of music as John Lowry and Sunny Qu perform together at Michael Lipnicki Fine Pianos—a venue celebrated for its exceptional instruments.

John Lowry, the leader of the Astralis Quartet and Associate Concertmaster of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sunny Qu, a highly accomplished pianist from Vancouver and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music (London), have developed a deep musical camaraderie through their summers at the Vancouver Island Music Academy. Together, they bring a unique synergy to this enchanting program.

The programme will feature:

Carl Maria von Weber's Sonata in F major, Op. 10, No. 1, a charming and rarely performed gem.

R. Murray Schafer's Duo for Violin and Piano, one of Canada's most remarkable contributions to the repertoire.

César Franck's Sonata in A major, an iconic masterpiece celebrated for its lyrical beauty and emotional depth, originally composed as a wedding gift for the legendary violinist Eugène Ysaÿe.
