The Calgary Bach Choir returns to performance

The Calgary Bach Choir is delighted to return to a live performance to present a concert featuring the choir, four soloists, and a small instrumental ensemble, under the direction of Artistic Director Terry Edwards. Now in its 34th season, the choir specializes in the music of Baroque composers such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and beyond.

"We are thrilled to return to creating live music together, while observing Covid safety protocols to protect both performers and audience,” says Edwards. “We invite you to celebrate Music with us on the eve of St. Cecilia's Day!"

Their season opener concert, Ode to Music, presents selected choruses from Bach’s secular Cantata BWV 213, Pachelbel’s Magnificat in D, Purcell’s Welcome to all the pleasures (Ode for St. Cecilia's Day, 1683), and more. The concert is one hour long with no intermission and features four steller soloists: Hannah Pagenkopf (soprano), Aoife Bonaventura (mezzo-soprano), Jason Ragan (tenor), and Tyler Fitzgerald (bass-baritone).

Ode to Music will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Knox United Church (506 – 4 Street SW, Calgary).
